The place is lovely, great decor and the rooms are well equipped. Service was great BUT we paid for our reservation 3 months ahead (paid, not reserved) to get a specific room. We got there and we got another room with an awful view. Next day we were put in the room we requested with a balcony... BUT (yes, another but) the sewer smell was unbearable!! Almost sickening!! It is a city issue, but good Lord!! Disclosed it and be transparent.
Thank you to Orchid House staff for an incredibly wonderful stay. The Polanco location is fantastic, as I was able to get around the city quickly; I felt very safe in this area, as well. The rooms felt like home and the service was outstanding. Also, Aura was amazing for breakfast. Please consider staying at the Orchid House Hotel during your visit to Mx City.
This hotel is definitely not a five star in any possible way. The website makes it look much better than it is. Not worth the money. Service basically non existent, and room is very small with limited places to put things and poor quality products in the bathroom, for a five star. More like 3 stars. The air-conditioning works but the light indicator is extremely bright and on all the night long since it's warm and we need the air on. The location is quiet but far from the more desirable areas of Polanco with restaurants etc. I would not recommend this hotel at these prices.
This cute hotel has a premium location and the service is descent. Unfortunately it has a terrible mold issue. I don’t recommend this place to people who have allergies or are sensitive to strong smells. The hotel has a nice smell when you first walk in, but it quickly turns into an unbearable smell that is meant to mask the moldy aromas.
Our rooms was on the second floor. It’s a small room with a comfortable bed that has the shower in the bedroom. You can hear conversations upstairs and outside very crispy clear.
Back to the mold issue- I had to request a humidifier. The gentleman brought me a fan that didn’t do any good. We left the next morning with terrible allergies and our clothes and hair smelling like the room.
I would avoid this hotel at all costs. Our room was small and didn't even have a full window. It was noisy throughout our stay. For breakfast they seem to service left overs from the day before with very limited options. I have never seen left over butter pieces put together and served to guests, picture attached, this was ridiculous. After our first morning, we went out for breakfast. They also charged 40$+tax per night for my 4 year old son without even offering a crib. Other than the hotel, we liked exploring Mexico City. Just don't stay here, It isn't worth the money, nor the experience. Don't get fooled by their beautiful website like I did when I booked it.
Also I want to mention that they don't have any kind of indoor sitting area which I thought was unfortunate, especially when the rooms are so tiny, with no armchair, you kind of want to have a space to hang out outside of your room. Even for the "free" -not worthy- breakfast, and you will have to sit outside, and mornings are cold.
